We often pass this yard on our way to Bendigo and wonder how the owners ended up with a pet Emu.

A trip to Bendigo for some groceries followed by a picnic lunch at Kennington Reservoir
We ate in the car due to the biting wind, despite the sun, and saw so many different breeds of dogs being walked around the 1.36km track. Two beautiful black & tan, long-haired Dachshunds a Beagle, several Pugs, Labradors, Fox Terriers, fluffy Maltese, a long-haired sheepdog sporting a cute pigtail, Staffies etc. I think you might see just about every breed if you stayed there for a couple of hours!
Leaving Heathcote earlier in the day we were thrilled to see a huge flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos fly over (they are special favourites and at my former home in Traralgon I used to often see them but here they are much rarer so a sighting is special) and on the return journey we took the ‘scenic’ route, green undulating paddocks, sheep, cows . . . a very nice way to spend Sunday
How did you spend your Sunday?
Another scene from Bendigo Pottery
Looks like lots of bargains to be had . . . unfortunately, it was night time when we walked past and the store was closed
Morning across Strathdale Lions Park, Bendigo.
We enjoyed the Easter Parade at Bendigo again this year. I love the atmosphere – the sights, the sounds and even the smell of gunpowder in the air
This is Sun Loong, the longest Imperial Dragon in the Southern Hemisphere.
Our chickens are growing quickly and have moved into new digs. I bought this cage on ebay and we collected it from nearby Bendigo. We don’t have a lot of grass but, hopefully, they will benefit from the addition to their diet and in return will fertilise and improve our lawn
Swans, ducks and waterfowl enjoying a perfect sunny day on Kennington Reservoir, Bendigo
We enjoyed our ‘Sunday drive’ so much the previous weekend that we headed off again (west of Bendigo) yesterday
I think this magnificent hotel in Maryborough would have seen many successful gold miners at its bar over the years. And…perhaps a few not-so-successful ones drowning their sorrows!
Imagine the stories
At last I saw rain but, unfortunately, not at home :( I’ve made a quick trip to South Australia for a couple of days to pet/house sit while Jess and Jodi are away and drove through two hours of light rain. (Thursday) I hoped it would reach Heathcote but only a couple of spots and nothing, not even a drop, in the rain guage when Rod arrived home from work, so he’s busy watering still
Unfortunately, parts of New South Wales are being hit with bad storms and heavy rain so we won’t complain. Our watering is a chore but I know I’m getting much fitter
