For me, radios have changed a lot since Mum and Dad gave me my ‘tranny’ when I was about ten. I still cringe when I think about our poor neighbours who must have heard me screeching along to my favourite songs over the back fence
And, for those who want to start brainstorming for next month’s mini-competition, the word is TOAD
Thank you to all who entered the April Mini-competition.

Congratulations to the winners and I hope everyone is inspired by this month’s word – LEFTOVER/S. Entries need to be posted by 30 June 2013.
I’ve been having trouble sending out the results by email; perhaps it’s an anti-spam thing as although I include all the names/addresses in Bcc when I send they disappear. I haven’t had this trouble before but, hopefully, I’ve managed to send them all individually!
My sincere thanks for entering the Positive Words Short Story & Poetry Competition 2013. Your support helps to keep Positive Words magazine, a valuable opportunity for publication for more than ten years, viable. I hope you will continue to enter the competitions and consider subscription. Submissions to the monthly issues are always welcome but must be in hard copy.
The short-list is intended to encourage the writers who have come very close to the main prizes. Some years ago, I attended a competition presentation where I was told my entry had only narrowly missed out and it gave me enormous encouragement. Often we have no idea how our entries fared and it has always been my intention to reveal the judges’ short-list to encourage my fellow writers.
The overall standard of entries was excellent and there were many more close contenders. Entries need to be carefully checked for typos, spelling and grammatical errors as sometimes these make the difference between two close entries.
Thanks again to all entrants. You can find the results here: Results
For a copy of the July issue featuring the winning entries (First & Second), please send $5.50 in unused stamps to PO Box 798, Heathcote 3523, Victoria.
And…if you are inspired to enter the next competition you can find the entry form and details here : End-of-year entry form-2013
