No Parking

Today’s prompt…

Elijah, Eilidh and I visited Echuca during the week. A very hot day but we had a great time 🙂

I Did It :)

Winner badge 180x180

A somewhat self-indulgent prompt today but a perfect end to the November milestone, TEN years of publication and I want to thank everyone who encouraged, cheered me on and followed my progress. Last night I validated my 50,591 words and joined the ‘winners’ of NaNoWriMo. Once I catch up on all the things I’ve neglected over the past month, I’ll write a full report about the experience for Positive Words magazine, especially for those of you who are tempted to have-a-go next year. I am sure I’ll be doing it again 🙂

I’m pleased with what I’ve written. There’s plenty of waffle, typos and awkward grammar but I’ve set myself a new target. I’m hoping to write at least 500 words, 5 days a week until the story is finished which will possibly be about 20,000 words away. I’ve already done 400 words this morning, starting as I mean to go on 🙂

Congratulations to everyone who participated, finished or not; it’s  great learning experience and there’s always next year. I remember feeling disappointed last year at not being able to commit to it but this year was the right time for me. It was wonderful to have some fellow Positive Words subscribers and readers also sharing the experience. I look forward to hearing about what they do with their efforts.

Today’s prompt…

All set for a little family 🙂

NaNoWriMo Update: A few more words added after a wonderful trip to Echuca with Elijah and Eilidh…total 49,272 words. We have a very hot day forecast 39 degrees so I’ll be more than happy to stay in and write 🙂

Every Shoe Tells A Story!

Today’s prompt…

Shoes could tell so many stories . . .

NaNoWriMo Update: I’ve got my son Elijah and his girlfriend Eilidh visiting but I’m still progressing…48,735 words. So close 🙂

And Elijah mentioned a couple of things yesterday that gave me some great ideas so I’ll be keeping my notepad and pen handy today!

Spicing it up!

Today’s prompt…

Whether it’s cooking or writing stories and poems, getting the right amount of spice is important 🙂

My NaNoWriMo novel has reached 47,199 words after a good run yesterday. As for spice, there’s not one swear word, no sex and no violence but it’s also not the kind of story where it would be appropriate.  I like it and I’m hoping with another 20,000 or so words and lots of editing, it will find a few readers somewhere. But before all that, a few more words to reach the NaNo target. I’ve got visitors coming for a couple of days but I’m sure I’ll squeeze in a bit more before they arrive.

Yesterday, I sent the December manuscript off to the printer after a couple of re-adjustments. A few pages came up differently on the new computer but it all came together in the end 🙂

Today’s prompt…

TEN pens…once a writer wouldn’t be without them but these days you can put even your notes on phones etc. I still love pens and have several that have long run out of ink but they hold special memories.

NaNoWriMo Update: At last my new laptop is working 🙂 all went smoothly after Rod rang and got the password from the salesman when the shop opened. It had to do  few lengthy updates and installations but finally I was able to add about 1500 words to my novel and my total is now 45,024! I feel very excited knowing I only need 1000 words a day to finish. I have a busy day ahead but lots of ideas so should be able to squeeze in a couple of writing sessions 🙂

I’m Making it Up :)

Today’s prompt…

You’d think with all this make up  I’d be drop dead gorgeous 🙂 lol

NaNoWriMo Up date: A frustrating day yesterday and no inspiration 😦 I only added 200 words but I’m hoping to make up for it later totay 🙂 Rod and I went into Bendigo and got what we thought was a great deal on a new computer (half price!) only to find when we came home and Rod tried to set it up for me that it had been set for display with the store password and we couldn’t get into it 😦 Hopefully when they open this morning we can call them and sort it out!
