Positive Words AUGUST 2015 Mini-Competition Results
The entries this month were mixed with lots of funny tales and poems but also some very sad stories and poems about emptiness. Fortunately, no EMPTY pages! I laughed and cried and eventually divided the prize between two entries from Martin Jon Porter and K Robinson. Congratulations!
Short-listed entries came from: Carol Reynolds, Amanda Hemmings (No1), Susan Steedman, Janet Mell, Shirley Burgess, Debra Tidball (Water Works), Yvonne Deering (broken eggshell), Zoe Downing, Paul Unger, Katie Bingham & Colleen Russell. Well done, everyone!
Sincere thanks to everyone who entered; your entries really do help to keep the magazine going and I hope, in return, your writing is inspired by the monthly challenge. The word for the October mini-competition it is BROTHER, and for November …BANK. The entry fee is $1.40 in unused stamps. Entries need to be posted by the last day of the relevant month. If you would like a copy of the December issue featuring the winning entry please send $5.50 in unused stamps to PO Box 798, Heathcote 3523, Victoria or contact firstname.lastname@example.org or https://positivewordsmagazine.wordpress.com/ for more information about the magazine.
Thank you to everyone who has sent in entries to the End-of-Year Short Story & Poetry Competition!
There’s still time if you haven’t entered – entries need to be posted by 31 October (Saturday)
Here’s an entry form Entry form but a simple cover sheet is also acceptable 🙂
Thanks for the support 🙂
I’ve had a few emails asking if there is a theme for the Positive Words End-of-Year Short Story & Poetry Competition.
No…there is no theme for this competition 🙂 Let your imagination run wild 🙂
Others have asked if it’s ok to send more entries…YES, as many as you like! If there isn’t enough space on the entry form use a second one, put the details on the back or use a cover sheet. All are accepted 🙂
And. . . font, print, spacing etc. Use your favourite, there are no rules. Double or 1.5 spacing makes for easier reading for judges but also uses more paper so if you prefer single spacing, that’s fine!
Please ask if there is anything else you would like to know 🙂
And . . . thank you very much for supporting the competition. Every entry helps to keep Positive Words magazine and a great opportunity for publication alive.
