Too close for comfort

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I smelled smoke on Friday, kept an eye out but eventually it disappeared. Then when Rod came home from work he saw the paddocks just 100metres or so down our street had been burnt. Amazing how much it spread considering there’s very little grass at the moment. Don’t know what happened but timely reminder that we can never be too careful, even though the weather is starting to cool down.

Every time I look at this pot I’m reminded of the tune . . . Bill and Ben, flower pot men  🙂

Fortunately, for me, the heatwave has broken and it’s much cooler today but there are still hundreds of people affected by the terrible bushfires raging in Victoria and South Australia. I hope everyone is safe.

Hot weather

A very hot week forecast here . . . 39 today, then into the forties and up to 44 on Friday 😦

We’ve been busy over the weekend watering all the plants and trees, filling the smaller watering tanks from the dam and keeping our fingers crossed they all survive.

Terrible bushfire in WA and a heatwave all across the southern states – I hope everyone is safe!

Brave Blooms

Today’s prompt…

Despite attacks from cockatoos and rabbits, heat and less than half the average rainfall for the past three months . . . a couple of Agapanthus are flowering, although much smaller than usual 🙂

New South Wales is preparing for potentially the worst heat/fire conditions in history and parts of other states are also on alert. I hope everyone stays safe!

Magic Beans

Today’s prompt…despite the lack of rain, the heat, wind and poor soil, our Purple King beans have produced a small crop 🙂

…and they tasted delicious! I’ve grown these beans many times over the years and I still love watching the way they change from purple to green after just a few minutes in boiling water

We have extreme weather conditions forecast here for the next week and there are already fires burning in South Australia. I hope everyone stays safe.
