As the year draws to a close…

I hope the blog title makes for an inspiring prompt ๐Ÿ™‚

The end of my 2014 has slipped in a couple more hiccups . . . this year is determined to go out with a loud crash and bang!

Thank you to everyone for all the kind messages and emails. They help . . . they really do! And my thoughts are with all who are also experiencing tough times.

As my years draw to a close I have been catching up with submissions and correspondence and will be posting more competition results in a few days.

And I have also written a couple of stories, something I haven’t done for quite a while. You can read them on the ABC Open project:

Thank you

Dear Subscribers, Readers and Contributors,

Thank you all for your much appreciated support of Positive Words magazine during 2014.

It has been a difficult year on a personal level with illness, tough times for several family members and sadness as my mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimerโ€™s Disease and my father struggles at times to cope. It has all taken its toll both emotionally and financially but I am forever indebted to all who have continued to support Positive Words, especially those who have sent kind donations towards the printing costs and stamps which have really helped with the huge postage bill (further extended with the rise earlier this year!). As most of you know, the magazine is a labour-of-love and I do not receive wages or payment for my time, so the support is vital and very much valued.

Many of you have also confided you own troubles throughout the year and my thoughts are with you. I do hope your situations improve in the near future.

Unfortunately, perhaps in part due to my distractions elsewhere and lack of time to promote the magazine and competitions, subscriber numbers have fallen but Positive Words will continue as usual through 2015. Apart from my motherโ€™s condition, most of the other situations have improved and I am looking forward to the coming year and encouraging new writers and subscribers in their writing endeavours. Please spread the word if you know of anyone interested in writing.

Once again, my sincere thanks for all the support and encouragement through the year and I look forward to hearing from you all and seeing more of your work in 2015.

Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and New Year,

Sandra James

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

All I ask this year is for a BIG FAT bank account and a slim body.

And…please don’t get it mixed up like you did last year ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

It’s not my original thought but, sadly, it’s very close to home!

I hope it inspires some fun writing ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s that time of the year

Today’s writing prompt:

It’s beginning to look a lot like . . .

When I was very young, I thought everyone’s Christmas must have been celebrated in the same way!

Now, I know differently, of course, but also my Christmases have changed a lot over the years.

What does Christmas look like to you?

Jingle Bells

Today’s writing prompt:

Christmas.

Yes, I know most of you are rolling your eyes each time you go into a shop and see the overwhelming displays that arrive earlier and earlier each year, but . . . it is time to send off Christmas submissions. Poems, stories, articles, fillers. All very welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

Memories

Many, many moons ago . . . that’s me with my Mum and Nan ๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas is a great time to jot down notes about family stories, check the fine details with other family members etc.

Christmas Spider

Rod took this photo last night of a spider I found hanging on our orchard fence and we were amazed the find that the Spiny Orbweaver Spider is also known as the Jewel Spider or Christmas Spider . . . very seasonal ๐Ÿ™‚
