Just a reminder that competition entries need to be posted by 23 April – don’t worry that they won’t arrive by that date, as long as you post them by then. The postmark will probably have the date on it but even if it is illegible, I’m sure they will be posted on time
Auspost is not so reliable – I’ve just had a small parcel take five days to travel 50kms (Heathcote to Bendigo) with tracking. Needless to say I will allow plenty of time for all entries to arrive before judging begins.
Thanks for all the support – much appreciated!
Many people have been asking if the stories, poems and articles in Positive Words magazine and entered into the competitions have to be ‘positive’. NO!
The ‘positive’ in the title refers to the act of doing something positive with your work i.e. getting it out there, submitting it to a magazine, anthology or publisher, entering it into a competition etc. Be proud of your work and what you’ve achieved whether it’s a happy story or poem, a sad one, reflective, horror, dramatic…whatever your preferred genre.
Competition finalists and winners are selected on merit, not genre.
Over the years we’ve had a wide variety of genres in both the monthly print issue and entered in the competitions…go for it!
Thank you once again for all the entries and a thoroughly enjoyable job in reading them to select a winner. This month I have divided the prize between two entries, one from Jenny Eddy, the other from Jayni Lai (6). Well done! The decision was a very close one with many excellent entries and interpretations.
You can find the results here: Positive Words February 2016 Mini
Once again – ‘Thank you’ everyone for your entries in the Positive Words November Mini-competition – I really appreciate the support and hope you will all continue to enter the mini-competitions.
Congratulations to the equal November winners – Yvonne Deering and Jodi Titley!
You can find results here: Positive Words NOVEMBER 2015 Mini
If you would like a copy of the February issue featuring the winning entry and results, please send $5.50 (cheque, money order, unused stamps or direct deposit) to Positive Words magazine, PO Box 798, Heathcote 3523 Victoria.
…to post your entries in both the Positive Words End-of-Year Short Story & Poetry Competition and the October Mini-competition.
They don’t have to arrive by today – as long as they are posted
For detail see the previous post.
And… THANK YOU everyone for the great support!
Just today or tomorrow left to post you entries in the Positive Words End-of-Year Short Story & Poetry Competition (Open – no theme)
and/or this months mini-competition featuring the word BROTHER. Details below…
Entry form mini themes 2015
Thank you everyone for the much appreciated support
I’ve had a few emails asking if there is a theme for the Positive Words End-of-Year Short Story & Poetry Competition.
No…there is no theme for this competition Let your imagination run wild
Others have asked if it’s ok to send more entries…YES, as many as you like! If there isn’t enough space on the entry form use a second one, put the details on the back or use a cover sheet. All are accepted
And. . . font, print, spacing etc. Use your favourite, there are no rules. Double or 1.5 spacing makes for easier reading for judges but also uses more paper so if you prefer single spacing, that’s fine!
Please ask if there is anything else you would like to know
And . . . thank you very much for supporting the competition. Every entry helps to keep Positive Words magazine and a great opportunity for publication alive.
