April Issue

The April issue has been printed and will be posted when the post office opens again on Tuesday 🙂

If anyone would like a copy please send $6 in unused stamps to PO Box 798, Heathcote 3523, Victoria.

Subscriptions are available @ $35 for six months or $60 for twelve months.

Great reading and inspiration. Stories, poetry, articles, writing prompts, competitions etc…

Positive or Negative?

Many people have been asking if the stories, poems and articles in Positive Words magazine  and entered into the competitions have to be ‘positive’. NO!

The ‘positive’ in the title refers to the act of doing something positive with your work i.e. getting it out there, submitting it to a magazine, anthology or publisher, entering it into a competition etc. Be proud of your work and what you’ve achieved whether it’s a happy story or poem, a sad one, reflective, horror, dramatic…whatever your preferred genre.

Competition finalists and winners are selected on merit, not genre.

Over the years we’ve had a wide variety of genres in both the monthly print issue and entered in the competitions…go for it!

February Mini-competition results

Thank you once again for all the entries and a thoroughly enjoyable job in reading them to select a winner. This month I have divided the prize between two entries, one from Jenny Eddy, the other from Jayni Lai (6). Well done! The decision was a very close one with many excellent entries and interpretations.

You can find the results here: Positive Words February 2016 Mini

Cross Words

A writing prompt for today:

He only needed one word to complete the crossword puzzle.

Cross words over crosswords?

Hope you have some fun with this one.

Decisions

Today’s writing prompt:

Which road?

Sometimes there is no right or wrong! But the decisions can be agonizing 😦

Hope the prompt inspires a great story or poem.

Windy Weather

A writing prompt for today:

It’s an ill wind . . .

Yes, it’s windy here and has been for several days 😦

I can hear it now whistling around the corner of the house.

Writing prompts

My apologies for the lack of writing prompts over the past weeks…I’ve had a break and will now endeavour to provide them at regular intervals again 🙂

Prompt for today:

I think I’m beginning to understand.

I hope it inspires some great poems and stories 🙂

Along came a spider…

Thank you everyone, for all the kind comments and emails about my stories on the ABC 500 project site. I really appreciate it and am hoping I can do a lot more writing in 2015. If you haven’t seen them, the links are below:

Today’s writing prompt:

She slid her toes into the leg of her jeans and out ran a . . . spider!

Yes…it happened this morning 😦

Okay, it was only the tiniest of spiders and didn’t cause any harm but I thought it would be a great writing prompt.

Imagine a HUGE hairy spider with big eyes and an evil grin . . .

And, remember after drying your jeans on a hot summer day . . . give them a good shake before putting them on 🙂 Just in case!
